About Our Series & Sequence

We provide free courses for all Pima faculty - including face-to-face, hybrid, and online instructors at Pima Community College. These short, 3-week, 4-week and 5-week courses are designed to expand your online pedagogy and course design skills using D2L Brightspace and third-party tools.

All faculty who anticipate teaching a pre-designed, D2L Brightspace course (i.e. course "masters") are strongly encouraged to complete our introductory course, TE125 TEACH: Introduction to Online Pedagogy.  For advanced courses in online design and teaching, including our BUILD and LEAD offerings, please view the offerings below.

Our Introductory Courses

TE125 TEACH: Introduction to Online Pedagogy

This course is designed for faculty teaching from a predesigned course (what has previously been called a "course master"). Faculty or staff who successfully complete this course achieve TEACH certification. Learn more

TE150 BUILD: Introduction to Instructional Design

This course is designed to help faculty learn how to build courses from scratch through D2L Brightspace.  Faculty or staff who successfully complete this course achieve TEACH certification. Learn more

Our Intermediate & Advanced LEAD Courses

Prerequisites to Enroll?

TEACH & BUILD completion are not required for half our courses.  Feel free to register for any LEAD courses that have no required prerequisites (e.g. LEAD 179, 180, 183, and 185).

How to Achieve LEAD-Level Certification

Faculty who successfully complete both LEAD 175 and three additional LEAD courses achieve LEAD certification. To learn more, visit our Certifications page.

Our Impact

Through this course series, many Pima faculty and staff have successful achieved faculty development certification - with over a thousand accomplishing TEACH certification and over 300 achieving BUILD certification (as of Summer 2024).  Further, our LEAD courses have seen over 500 successful course completions!

What Do Our LEAD Courses Look Like?

Who Teaches our Courses?

Online faculty development courses are taught or co-taught by faculty development educators (FDE). These faculty and staff are experts in teaching and learning and are certified to teach in their disciplines at Pima (with the exception of LEAD 181-183). FDEs include faculty development staff, department heads, adjunct and full-time faculty, as well as exempt professional staff (i.e. Pima's instructional designers, web designers, and videographers). If you are interested in being considered to teach any faculty development course, contact Reed!
