Course Description
Overview: In our latest course revision, BUILD has been further updated to help instructors learn how to create, enhance, and build effective digital content. BUILD introduces and/or refreshes faculty knowledge around creating solid online strategies, accessible content and assessment design, and comprehensive resources using the LMS.
Like most of our faculty development course offerings, BUILD is an expert-facilitated, cohort-based experience that is completed among a professional learning community of your peers.
Scope/Length: This is now an accelerated 20-hour, 4-week course that involves a mentored, guided cohort (i.e. not self-paced), and is facilitated by faculty development educators.
Certification. This intermediate-level course is BUILD-level certification, our second level of certification in a three-level certification step process for teaching, building and leading courses in D2L Brightspace. It is also a prerequisite for most of our LEAD course offerings.
Course Learning Outcomes (V 2.0):
Understand advanced course personalization in pre-built courses and best practices for course modification.
Integrate cost-free content into pre-built courses including OER.
Design learning activities and connected assessments using D2L Brightspace tools.
Enhance pre-built course interactivity using Pima's external learning tools.
Payment for Part-Time(Adjunct) Faculty. As noted in our course syllabus, part-time faculty who now successfully complete TE150 BUILD by the specified date will be compensated $500 for this 20-hour course. Please note that adjunct instructors who are not employed by Pima Community College (i.e. dual-enrollment faculty) are not eligible for this payment.
Prerequisites: To enroll in this class, participants must first successfully complete TE125 TEACH. If you are currently teaching at Pima Community College as a full-time or part-time instructor (or staff member), we invite you to register today!
